Team Brookie is a group effort to raise awareness and support in the fight against Canavan Disease. Canavan Disease is a progressive, degenerative brain disease that causes damage to the white matter of the brain. This disease appears in early infancy and eventually deprives children of their ability to see, swallow, walk and talk. Jacob’s Cure is a 501c3 non-profit foundation dedicated to raising the funds necessary to cure Canavan Disease.

Our Team Brookie was created in honor of Brooke Plumstead who was diagnosed in December 2010 with Canavan Disease at the age of 7 months. Brookie is now 14 months old, and has the ability to charm everyone with her sweet smiles and contagious laughter.

On Sunday, September 18th, 2011, Team Brookie will become a cycling team by joining the NYC Century Bike Tour. We urge everyone to get on your bike and join us at 7:30am in Prospect Park where we will begin our leisurely ride. Don't worry if you're no pro, the pace will be fun for everyone. Right after the ride we would love for everyone to join us for the afterparty at TBD in Greenpoint.
